"Picture a spot of beauty rare Picture a sky so blue and fare Paint it with rainbow hues so bright Then tone it down with shades of night Paint it with inspiration true Then let it fill the heart of you Picture a Tannadoonah like this A camp of peace and bliss" a tanna-what-a? tanna-who? simply put, camp tannadoonah is my second favorite place in the history of ever (if you follow this blog you'd already know notre dame takes the cake). it was here, at this campfire camp in vandalia, michigan, i first met the bride-to-be below.
picture this: we're gangly pre-teens, myself in braces, without our parents for a week, in a cabin in the woods, all hopped up on sugar from 'store' and giggly over those CUTE boys in luta koda (the only boys' cabin which literally means "little princess." mull that one over, why dontcha). camp was the time. of. our. lives. i still cherish memories i made there as a camper, and then counselor myself, to this day. flash forward a decade+ and this girl i once knew is now a woman, and this man has won her heart...and declared it with a ROCK. i'm talkin a ROCK. i'm surprised carolyn doesn't need to visit a chiropractor on the regular due to her hand being dragged down (i luh-luh-luh-luhhhhhhh it). so, sweet, sweet super slip, it only seemed natural that we'd do your engagement photos in the woods. i am so very happy for you, and i know you'll make a gorgeous bride. will there be any donkey riding at the reception? congratulations :]
